About the Program

The goal of our Junior Stage Scenic Volunteer program is to offer an opportunity for preteens and teens to artistically contribute to our Junior Stage productions without performing in the show - helping them to stay involved in theatre, foster creativity in the visual arts, work with a team, and develop an understanding of the scenic development elements that support a successful theatrical production.

Volunteers will work collaboratively with the Scenic Director, Stage Manager, and their peers to assist in scenic painting, building, decorating, and construction, while also supporting spotlight operations, set-up, or front-of-house operations during performances. This role is designed for students who are interested in the visual, technical, and operational aspects of theatre but do not wish to perform on stage.

Scenic volunteers will be invited to select scheduled rehearsals on Tuesday and Friday nights for scenic work and/or large-group team building rehearsals or runs (attendance at every rehearsal is not required).

As these are volunteer positions, participation can be used to fulfill high school community service requirements. There is no fee to participate, if selected.
