  • Information Packet

View our Information Packet to learn about how our Main Stage program works. Here, you will find information about the audition process, casting, rehearsals, tech week, costuming, and shows.

  • Ages: 18-27

    Cast size: 8+ ensemble

    Run-time: 2.25 hours

Background: A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

  • Audition Sign-up

Read the info packet linked above, in full, before signing up for an audition slot.

Out of respect for everyone’s time, we require all actors to sign up for an audition slot, whether they are auditioning in person or submitting a virtual audition.

  • It is strongly recommended that all auditioners present the following components:

    1) Vocals:

    • Prepare a one-minute selection from a musical theatre song that shows off your voice.

      • Ideally, pick something that shows off your diction and ability to tell a story while singing.

    • If you would like to be considered for a lead role, please also prepare one of these cuts (or more than one, if you would like):

      • Music Audition Cuts

    • Please be sure to choose selections that show your range and ability to its fullest!

    • For each of your songs, please come prepared with an instrumental/ karaoke track to sing against, either via a YouTube video (we can pull it up for you in the audition room) or an audio file on a device.

    2) Acting: Prepare and memorize a monologue of your choosing that best showcases your acting abilities, emotional range, and character interpretation.

    3) Choreography:

    • Dance Combination 1

    • Dance Combination 2

If you have any special skills (ie. tumbling, acro, etc), please let our audition panel know so you can showcase them.

  • Seymour Krelborn

An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills.

Vocal range top: G4; Vocal range bottom: A2

    Audrey

Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor.

Vocal range top: D5; Vocal range bottom: G#3

    Mr. Mushnik

The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative.

Vocal range top: F4; Vocal range bottom: G2

    Orin Scrivello

An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour.

Vocal range top: G4; Vocal range bottom: G2

    The Plant (Audrey II)

Puppet. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant.

    Voice Of The Plant

An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best.

Vocal range top: G4; Vocal range bottom: G2

    Crystal, Ronnette, & Chiffon

Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon are Black street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality.

Vocal range top: F5; Vocal range bottom: Ab3

  • If you don’t know your range, or wonder if your range has changed, here is a tool that you can use to figure it out:

    • Sing along with this video and make note of your lowest and highest comfortable note. Doesn’t need to be perfectly accurate, this is just an approximation.

    • Tenor/Bass voices, start each section in the higher register of your voice (for the high-note exercise, only use your chest voice. No need to push into falsetto)

    • Alto/Soprano voices, start each section in the light middle register of your voice.

    • Disregard the voice type ranges at the end of the video, these are not accurate to how we’ll be voicing the cast!

Casting & Callbacks

Please note that auditioners are auditioning for a part in the show, not for a specific part. If there is only one part you are interested in or only one ensemble group you’re interested in being in (ensemble only, for example), please let us know on your audition sign-up form so that this information can be considered during casting.

Callback requests will be virtual and will be sent out after the final in-person audition. Virtual callbacks will be due by 12:00pm on Sunday, September 27th. Casting emails will be sent out the following week.
