At the Lava Springs Country Club, popular girl, Sharpay, reigns supreme while the Wildcats get to work — literally! • Audition Sign-up Link

Out of respect for everyone’s time, we require all actors to sign up for an audition slot, whether they are auditioning in person or submitting a virtual audition.

Please note: If all in-person audition slots are filled, you will need to sign up for a virtual audition instead.

  • Actors who are interested in auditioning for High School Musical 2 should prepare the following:

Please note: The links referenced will go live one month prior to auditions.

    1) Review the Information Packet above & sign up for an in-person or virtual audition slot.

    2) Prepare & print a short performing arts resume, which highlights any acting, dance, or vocal experience that the actor has. If the auditioner has no prior performing arts experience, they could include other activities that they enjoy or skills that they may have. This resume should also include a recent picture or headshot of the actor.

    3) Acting Portion:

Choose a side from the Acting Audition Doc linked above to memorize and perform.

    • Auditioners should choose one character’s part to read on their side; the parts of other characters will be read by someone on the audition panel.

    • Feel free to gender-bend.

    • Not sure who a character is? Scroll down to view our Character Breakdown.

    4) Vocal Portion:

Choose two musical selections from the Music Audition Material slide deck linked above to prepare and perform at your audition.

    • Auditioners may not choose a song outside of these selections to present at the audition. Only the song selections provided by East End are acceptable.

    • We will have instrumental tracks available at your audition. We recommend that you prepare a second selection as well, as we may ask to hear something else.

    • Please note: If you are having a hard time playing the tracks, try clicking “slideshow” at the top of the page. This should make the links easily clickable.

    5) Dance Portion:

Please memorize the following dance combination(s) based on the information listed below.

  • Troy Bolton

Troy Bolton is the most popular kid at East High, the star of the basketball team and Gabriella's boyfriend. Troy is in a tough place this summer - he needs to make as much money as possible in order to afford college. When a scholarship opportunity arises, he does everything he can to make it happen. Look for a solid young actor who can convey the full range of Troy's emotions and character traits: independent, driven, athletic, yet smitten with Gabriella.

    Chad Danforth

Chad Danforth is a jock and Troy's best friend. He and Taylor share a special bond, but he is good friends with all the Wildcats. As Troy gets wrapped up in his scholarship world, Chad becomes concerned about the person Troy is becoming.

    Jack Scott

Jack Scott is the school announcer who is confident and suave behind the microphone, but not so sure of himself when he isn't. He has a great friendship with Kelsi and they bring out the best in each other.

    Ryan Evans

Ryan Evans is Sharpay's barely younger twin and a true star. He loves singing and dancing, and is learning to be his own person outside of Sharpay's shadow. He wants what's best for his sister but is having a hard time dealing with her ego. Everything Ryan does is executed to the extreme and usually with enthusiasm.

    Zeke Baylor

Zeke Baylor is a basketball player and good friend of Troy and Chad. His love of baking is matched only by his crush on Sharpay.

    Gabriella Montez

Gabriella Montez is an intelligent, charming girl who is loved by everyone& except Sharpay. She is dating Troy and can't wait to spend the summer with him at Lava Springs. Gabriella is a strong, loyal character who sticks up for her beliefs.

    Taylor Mckessie

Taylor McKessie is Gabriella's best friend who has started hanging out with Chad more often. She is organized and intelligent and doesn't like to see people take advantage of her friends, namely Gabriella.

    Sharpay Evans

Sharpay Evans is the egocentric daughter of the Lava Springs owner and barely older twin sister of Ryan. She does everything she can to get what she wants, particularly Troy Bolton.

    Martha Cox

Martha Cox is the fun-loving, big-personality girl of the group. She loves to dance, specifically hip-hop.

    Kelsi Nielsen

Kelsi Nielsen is an up-and-coming theatre composer who struggles with how to further her career.

    Sharpettes

Blossom, Violet and Peaches are the Sharpettes, Sharpay's debutante gal pals. They are bubbly, excitable and will back Sharpay up in all her endeavors.

    Fulton

Fulton is the efficient club manager of Lava Springs. When it comes to the Wildcats, he doesn't have difficulty being in charge, but Sharpay is a different story. He is overly concerned with pleasing the daughter of the country club's owner. It isn't until Sharpay pushes him too far that Fulton is able to stand up to her.

    Ensemble

The Ensemble makes up the other characters who populate Lava Springs Country Club. Some have small featured roles: pool boys, hairdressers, tailors, dermatologists. Other members of the ensemble work primarily as specific groups: the Wildcats, Lava Springs employees, Waiters, etc. These roles vary in size and in vocal, acting, and dance requirements.

Casting & Callbacks

Please note that auditioners are auditioning for a part in the show, not for a specific part. If there is only one part you are interested in or only one ensemble group you’re interested in being in (dance/tap ensemble only, for example), please let us know at your audition so that this information can be considered during casting.

Callback requests will be virtual and will be emailed out after the final in-person audition. Virtual callbacks will be due Saturday, December 21st by 2:00pm. Casting emails will be sent out following callbacks, indicating whether or not an actor has been cast in the show and which part (if any) they have received.

A Note for Parents:

At any age, casting decisions can be challenging to cope with - not every auditioner will get their preferred role and not every auditioner will get in, regardless of how well-prepared they are, how many lessons they have taken, or how many shows they have been in.

To help your child or teen cope with any feelings that may come up around casting decisions, it is important to talk with them at home before their audition to reinforce the idea that their worth and their talent is not based on the casting outcome, and that a lead is not a “better than” an ensemble role. Every actor is important, everyone’s position in the show matters, and it is our priority to demonstrate the same value and attention to our ensemble as much as we do for our leads.

Rehearsal Schedule

Rehearsals will be held twice per week on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5:15pm-8:30pm, starting December 30th.

Rehearsals may increase in frequency, depending on need, as we get closer to the show. The cast will have advance notice of any scheduling changes.

The show will be performed April 24-26, 2025 at Tolman High School in Pawtucket, RI. The weeks of April 13-23 will be a “blackout period” and will contain mandatory rehearsals each evening for all cast and crew members.
