🌟Question: Are camps strictly for grades 1-5, or do you have opportunities for middle school camps as well?
Answer: Currently, we are only offering camps for grades 1-5. Opportunities for older children include the First Act and Junior Stage programs, as well as our private lessons.
🌟Question: Can I stay with my child at camp if they are nervous?
Answer: All camp sessions are closed to family and parents. We find that children focus best when their parents & guardians leave them with us in the way that they do for school. If you or your child would like a preview of our space, you can take a "virtual tour" of our space by clicking here.
🌟Question: What types of activities do kids engage in at camp all day?
Answer: In each camp, participants will learn about theatre and improv as they work together to rehearse a one-act play, which will be performed for family and friends at the end of the session. Each day will be filled with theatre games & activities, direct instruction, learning blocking and lines, craft activities, and more.
🌟Question: What is the staff to child ratio at camp?
Answer: We have 4 staff (2 instructors and 2 counselors) per camp, with a participation cap of 25 campers.
🌟Question: What is the professional background of camp staff?
Answer: Camp staff are not only trained actors, but they are also trained educators. Our camp instructors are teachers in the K-12 public school system, and are able to accommodate diverse learning styles, learning needs, etc throughout the camp.
🌟Question: Should I enroll my child in theatre camp if they have never done theatre before?
Answer: Absolutely! Theatre camp is a great way to unlock a love for acting, without the pressure of producing a high-stakes production at the end.
🌟Question: When and where is the final performance at the end of the camp session?
Answer: The performance time is determined after a script is selected and will be communicated to families about 2 weeks before the start of the camp. It is usually 2:30 or 3:00pm on the final day of the camp and is presented at our rehearsal space.
🌟Question: Is it a musical theatre camp or just an acting camp?
Answer: Our theatre camps are focused on acting & straight plays. For participation in musical theatre, check out our First Act program.
🌟Question: My child can’t read yet. Will they be successful at theatre camp?
Answer: It is helpful if your child can read, but not essential. We can give them a part without lines, if needed. Mainly, your child needs to be able to follow directions, work with other children in a group, etc.
🌟Question: My child has not started first grade yet. Will they be successful at theatre camp and how many kids of the same age range tend to enroll?
We leave it up to the parents’ discretion to determine whether a child is mature enough to handle camp. You know your child best, so if you think that they are ready, then we are happy to work with them.
🌟Question: What are the chances that my child could actually be enrolled off of the wait list?
Answer: The chances that you child could come off the wait list are high! We are typically able to successfully enroll between 5-10 wait list kids once we get closer to the start date of the camp.
🌟Question: What is the best way to stay up-to-date on camp information so that I don’t miss enrollment or registration?
Answer: We normally open in enrollment in January at the start of the new year. Follow us on social media or join the mailing list on our website to see the flyers as soon as they’re released.
